“Mitsubishi” is a combination of the words mitsu and hishi. Mitsu means three and the word hishi is used to denote a rhombus or diamond shape. Also, japanese often bend the “h” sound to a “b” sound when it occurs in the middle of a word. So they pronounce the combination of mitsu and hishi as mitsubishi.

Then it was redesigned and now diamonds look as diamonds.

2011 Mitsubishi ASX

The Mitsubishi ASX is the European-spec version of the Japanese Mitsubishi RVR, which is slated to go on sale in Japan from February 2010. MMC’s new compact crossover will seat 5 and will be sequentially introduced in European countries from late spring 2010, aimed at expanding MMC’s passenger car footprint in the region, following in the footsteps of the larger and recently redesigned Outlander mid-size crossover.

Together with a 6-speed manual transmission, this combination will provide high environmental efficiency.
